Griessbach, home of the GetzenRodeo, is situated 20 kilometers north of the border to the Czech Republic, about 250 kilometers south of Berlin, in the "Erzgebirge"-the "Ore Mountains"- 5 kilometers away from Zschopau- where the final of the German Enduro Championship takes place every fall.



The race is split into to parts: The GetzenRace and the GetzenChamp. The course leads, besides two or three wooden constructions, only across natural "Extreme-Obstacles", such as steep up and down ramps or climbs, rock cliffs, and extreme root and rock passages.



The GetzenRace will begin with a mass start and goes on for two hours (plus the last round for the leading driver-when he crosses the finish line, the rest will be waved in). Each participant has to stop at least once for fueling up (will be observed!) in the service area, which also can be used for repair works other necessary things.

The top five riders of the GetzenRace are qualified for the GetzenChamp, the final of the GetzenRodeo- they have the honor of struggling through tough country again!



Because the five qualified riders of the GetzenChamp are the top skilled, the course will be "intensified" in some parts. Some sections may be declared "No Help-Zones" (will be clearly visible for the drivers). Although the difficulty level is very high, the organisation team`s priority is the drivability, under the motto: "Extrem-Enduro, not Extrem-Pushing-Pulling-Dragging"! The race distance is five laps (may be reduced due to weather conditions, change would be announced at the beginning of the race).

The starting of the GetzenChamp will be a single man start: The winner of the GetzenRace will be the first one on the track, followed by the second, the third and so on, with a distance of ten seconds between each rider. The guy that jumps via the finish ramp first can call himself (and will be called) "GetzenChamp 2011"!

The winner is treated with the amount of 777,- Euro, a trophy and a material prize. The other finalists will also be rewarded for their efforts: for the second place 555,- Euro are handed out, third place receives 333,- Euro, fourth place wins 222,- Euro and fifth place has to be happy with 111,- Euro. Second-and third placed riders also receive a trophy and a material prizes will be given to all five GetzenChamp-riders. To fulfill the Enduro character ("To hang on at any cost"), prize money is only handed out to participants who complete the race distance, but the driver who quits early (for instance because of a technical problem) will still be honoured in the above way (besides the money) in the ceremony. The price money, in this case, goes to the winner next year!
